“Fen Violet” Comic

“Fen Violet” is a long comic project I am currently working on and documenting in my newsletter. In the fens, a small violet is plucked from the peat and undergoes a transformation into a lesbian. While trying to settle into their new life, the visions they encounter in the water are strange and tell tales of other transformations like their own. Drawing inspiration from folktales, magical realism and medieval manuscripts, “Fen Violet” deals with themes of otherness, queerness and transformation, community and feeling connected to the environment.
